Growing with DAA

One hot summer day in 2013, A staff member from Detroit Achievement Academy knocked on my sister's front door. At the time DAA was recruiting students and families for their founding school year, and I was searching for a school for my daughter. I Immediately took interest. The school was held inside a church basement that was not too far from my house. Shortly after that interaction, My daughter started Kindergarten. I was excited about how small and intimate the school would be. I wanted Jayden to have a positive school experience. Detroit Achievement Academy was the perfect fit. I began as a volunteer and eventually evolved into serving as a  lunch aide.

I was and am still so honored that DAA has given me the opportunity to serve as a parent and a staff member for the last nine years. From Bushnell to Outer Drive we, (Me and DAA) have grown so much. Stay tuned for part two of my journey of growing with DAA.
