Celebration of Learning

DAA is an amazing school that really exhibits strong leadership, culture, high quality work, and community. Module, at DAA, is language arts integrated with science or social studies. One way parents get to see what we’re learning or working on during the school year is coming to each crew's Celebration of Learning. At a Celebration of Learning, the students put together an entire showcase to debut their final products showing a lot of curiosity and creativity.

Usually, the students with the help of their teacher will take 6 weeks to gather as much knowledge about their content as possible. They will discover answerings to some guiding questions and make sure they understand it by doing a writing assignment and taking quizzes. The last couple of weeks, the students and teacher will help create a final product. Then they will plan some rehearsal time to share a welcoming message to the parents, a song or a poem, and then the presentation of the final products.

First grade was fortunate to put together 3 Celebrations of Learnings this year that showcased things we learned for each Module. Parents left some great feedback so that we made sure the next one was even better. The first graders felt very proud, happy, and excited each time to show their parents what they learned during the six weeks.
